Alabama Interfaith Power and Light

As grassroots faith organizers they believe that the voice of faith communities must be brought to the forefront of the fight against the climate crisis. However, as they tackle solar energy advocacy as well as a myriad of additional equity issues in their surrounding communities, they struggled to find a singular visual identity for presenting their work and effectively reaching out to their intended audience.

Overhauling the old website

Overhauling the old website

Alabama Interfaith Power and Light is an organization committed to social justice through the work of environmental equity. The nature of their work means they are often communicating about and are actively involved in many projects at once.

We have a solution!

We have a solution!

The evidence is clear. The ALIPL team is doing important work and they needed to have an easy place for their current members and projected millennial audiences to find information about the many projects they do. Their old logo and website just weren’t meeting their needs.

Refreshing the Logo

Refreshing the Logo

The ALIPL team needed one official logo for their organization. We decided to pick what was best from each logo they have used for their material.

Exploring the Current Logo

Exploring the Current Logo

Their largest demographic, who has been participating in ALIPL’s work for a long time, is most familiar with ALIPL’s current green logo identity. We decided to lean more in that direction for the layout and color scheme.

Bringing the Visual Identity New Energy

We talked about their identity and what makes their work so important — The south, and the way that energy equity stretches across all communities.

It's Done!

We explored the parameters of the current logo and I found a way to bring a clean and modern edge to the typography and colors.

Iconography and Brand Guide

Iconography and Brand Guide

Website iconography and a brand guide were created so that their team will be empowered to create cohesive content that matches their aesthetic that they can feel excited about.

Since ALIPL is an Alabama chapter part of a larger organization called, IPL, we wanted their specific members to feel that their site was unique from the other chapters.

Overhauling the Website

Overhauling the Website

Their old website navigation was causing them to have less engagement than wanted. Clearing up their website navigation, bringing in brand-matching visuals would help us to clearly tell their story in an engaging way.

Where is the gap?

Where is the gap?

Their new website needed to be a spot for information about current projects, a place for new members to hear their story as a chapter of the larger IPL, and serve as a blog where readers can learn about news in the environmental advocacy space.

Their new website is now both attractive and usable for their current audience and the younger demographic who they are further reaching out with on social media.

Got that Non-Profit Power!

Since the unveiling of their new website, visitor rates have increased steadily. The average time a visitor spends on their website has increased to 12min. As intended most visitors come to their page to learn about their work, and their projects and read their blog.
